Abstract :
Thermo-optical properties of the coverglasses for GaAs and high efficiency Si solar cells are tailored using optical coatings. These coatings are combined with a thin conducting ITO coating that prevents ESDs on solar arrays. The optimal configuration with respect to eliminating ESDs and maximizing end-of-life GaAs array performance is AR/ITO/RR (RR is a red reflector). For Si arrays, the optimal coating configuration is UVR/RR (UVR is a UV reflector). All ITO coated coverglasses are effective in preventing ESD
