Abstract :
An accelerator scheme based on a DC photo-injector and a RF superconducting linac has been proposed as a new CEA facility. 20 electron pulses carrying 100 nC each will be extracted at 2.5 MeV in the DC gun before entering the RF linac. The DC gun is supplied with a high voltage generator delivering a 2.5 MV voltage pulse to the diode in which the 20 electron bunches will be emitted and accelerated. Particles reach the final energy of 50 MeV through a 4-cavity LEP2 type superconducting radiofrequency linac operating at 352.2 MHz. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed concept, a 1-cavity 15 MeV machine prototype is currently discussed.
