Electrical transmission system planning/operation-managing change and uncertainty

National Grid Company plc (NGC) as the owner and operator, is responsible for the effective planning, development and operation of the high voltage transmission system in the UK to facilitate competition in generation whilst maintaining standards of the security and quality of electricity supply. This paper gives a review on the impact of the generation market on the planning and operation of the NGC system. Measures taken to manage the change and uncertainty are discussed
