Abstract
The PSDB Raman programme is described. Advances in and future designs for in-field instrumentation are discussed, especially the most suitable operating wavelength and the applicability of UV lasers. The strategy for extending Raman spectroscopy for the detection of contraband in the vapour phase via surface enhancement techniques is also presented
