Abstract
Pulsed-power experiments can drive very high surface current densities in metallic conductors in time scales on the order of microseconds. The character of magnetic diffusion guarantees that field and current distributions will vary rapidly on these time-scales. We have found an analytic procedure for calculating these distributions in the material, even for time-varying surface conditions. This procedure has been compared with resolved one-dimensional MHD computations, both in the absence of material heating and with the inclusion of this effect. Results are presented.
