Abstract
Phase-locked loops (PLLs) generate sinusoidal signals in phase with periodic reference signals. In the present paper a PLL is presented, which uses the measurement of all phases of a three-phase system. The main advantage of this PLL is a high tracking bandwidth, with settling times in the order of one period of the signals to be tracked. Such a PLL is particularly useful in modern power electronics systems in which a stiff synchronization with the mains must be achieved. As the high bandwidth potentially perturbs the phase estimate in the presence of unbalanced or distorded mains, an automatic calibration method is introduced, which effectively reduces such perturbations.
