Abstract
A study of the effect of silver on bioleaching of low-grade copper ores from Yongping has been carried out in shake flasks. The results showed that the addition of Sb, Co and Mn did not enhance the copper extraction. Conversely, the addition of silver had a markedly catalytic effect on the copper dissolution. The infulence of different silver compounds on bioleaching of low-grade copper ores was little. Small amounts of silver dramatically accelerated the copper dissolution process while large amounts had an inhibitory effect. The optimal silver concentration is thought to be 10mg/L.
