Abstract
The ability to remove sources of measurement error accurately and easily is one of the keys to a high-resolution biodetection system. The ability of a guided mode resonant filter (GMRF) biosensor structure to confine the lateral propagation of photons tightly is exploited to demonstrate a sensor surface upon which active and reference regions can be located in close physical proximity. Detection systems with two-point reference correction and an imaging-based reference method are demonstrated.
