Abstract :
In this paper, we study a hybrid positioning system working with two GNSS satellites and two DVB-T transmitters in a SFN. By calculating the TDOA between the two satellites, the receiver clock error can be eliminated and a hyperboloid surface can be generated. The user location will result on a line generated by intersecting the hyperboloid surface with the earth surface. A similar approach is used with DVB-T signals. One of the challenges to overcome in the positioning methods based on DVB-T/SFN signals is to distinguish the signals transmitted by different emitters. Here we assume that the user can first computes his own position by GNSS during an initialization phase. This initial information can be used to correctly associate the DVB-T signals and select two of them with good properties for the hybrid positioning implementation. The simulation results show that this hybrid system works with good performance.
