  • Abstract
A custom erasable programmable logic device (EPLD), the EBS-1, with a pipelined architecture and several unique features has been built. It is based around three custom EPROM (erasable programmable read-only memory) NOR-plane cores, surrounded by both standard and custom cells. The EBS-1 has been used successfully in several different video applications and is not limited to any particular television standard. It has potential use in a wide range of other applications. The EBS-1 reduces the time to implement a system change from weeks to just minutes, and it provides an order-of-magnitude improvement in level of system integration over present EPLDs
