Abstract
This paper presents a new Space Vector PWM Modulation (SVM) method for a three-level flying-capacitor inverter. In proposed technique switching losses are reduced by using minimal number of vectors in modulation period as well as proper selection of zero vectors. Regulation of the voltages on the flying capacitors is independent from the output voltage control. Simple algebraic equations are used to predict vectors influence on capacitors voltage values. Only vectors that guarantee best capacitor voltage balancing are used in control. The main features of the presented technique are analyzed and compared with classical SVM method. Simulation results have proven good performance and verified the validity of the proposed method.
