Abstract :
The aim of the BOOTSTRAP project was to develop a method for software process assessment, quantitative measurement and improvement. BOOTSTRAP enhanced and refined the SEI method for software process assessment and adapted it to the needs of software producing units (SPUs) in the European software industry. BOOTSTRAP assesses both the SPU and the projects of the SPU with respect to policies and guidelines and their implementation. The BOOTSTRAP maturity level algorithm determines quantitative process quality profiles for individual process quality attributes. This quality profile serves as a basis for making decisions about process improvements and allows to determine the degree of satisfaction of ISO 9000
