Abstract :
The emergence of wireless communication systems and radar applications requires compact antenna structures that are easy to manufacture. Microstrip antennas are suitable for these applications because they have many advantages: high performance, thin profile, and low cost. However, applications of microstrip antennas are limited mainly because of their narrow bandwidth. Furthermore, the conventional array antennas associated with the feeder network require a large size and suffer from unwanted mutual coupling between the feeder network and the resonators which reduces the efficiency of the array antenna. We propose a design of linear and 2D array antennas which leads to a size reduction and high performance. A description of the analysis method is exposed and an emphasis on the experimental results of these antennas operating in the X-band are presented to validate this design. Moreover, the techniques employed for this design are well-adapted for the monolithic concept of millimetre waves band active antennas
