Abstract
In this paper we design a three-phase tubular permanent magnet linear motor for high speed lifting application. Analytical formulas are derived to predict the magnetic field distribution, magnetic flux linkage, induced electromotive force, total force and current. The major design parameters are optimized by the analytical solution to meet the performance requirement of the linear machine. The final design is validated by finite element simulations using Maxwell Software.
