Abstract :
Generally speaking, users are expected to use locally installed input methods to enter CJK characters. Without locally installed input methods, applications cannot accept non-English input from clients. In reality, many users live in non-CJK countries and do not have a proper CJK platform. Thus, we cannot assume that the client has a properly installed local input method engine. This paper describes an Internet-based CJK input method engine with intelligent analyzer that allows text input through the Internet. The algorithm provides fast speed searching ability. It is also mindful of the data transmission rate and minimizes the workload between the clients and the input method engine. This makes the server based input method engine not only fast enough for general use but also suitable for thin-client devices.
