Abstract :
The authors describe a novel gate array concept intended for serial data conversion at rates up to 1.5 Gb/s. This chip finds application in telecommunication fiber optic links, in computer backplane serial data links, and local area networks, among others. The gate-array approach allows the user to personalize the device to his application. The chip is implemented in GaAs enhancement/depletion (E/D) MESFET self-aligned gate technology and is personalized with three programming levels, two metal and one via
