Abstract :
A novel cooperative cellular relaying network structure with fixed relay stations is proposed. This structure can effectively improve the received signal strength of cell-edge users benefiting from cooperative diversity. Based on the proposed structure, a cooperative handoff strategy (CHOS) is designed. The CHOS extends the handoff algorithms based on absolute threshold value and hysteresis level by using the signal strength with cooperative diversity gain as handoff decision. The improved handoff decision in CHOS reduces the number of handoff in the system. If the target cell is crowed, CHOS can decrease the system handoff block rate by a simple channel borrowing mechanism. The simulation outcomes are provided for the creditability verification of the theoretical results.
