Abstract :
An overview of a fully adaptive 4800-b/s digital modem suitable for frequency-selective slow fading channels is presented. The fading rate in these channels is small compared to the data transmission rate, but the time dispersion of individual transmitted signal elements can be considerable. The practical implementation of the modem using parallel processing architectures with transputers is described
