Abstract :
This paper describes a method for modeling complex, closely intermeshed engineering processes. The FACETS method (referring to the numerous facets of such processes) is a way of describing all the essential features of such processes using transparent, condensed and easily understood representations. We call these representations "views" because they permit an individual, situation-oriented and interest-oriented view of the process. The submodels that arise out of these views can be used in many different ways, for example for process optimization, process documentation, training or the introduction of workflow or EDMS systems.
