Abstract :
NPL is developing a Guide to Measurement System Validation based upon a previous guide with a narrower scope. The new work is part of a programme on the Software Support for Metrology. The key issue in validation is to preserve the integrity of the measurement process. Validation is essential for reliable and dependable measurement. The main approach taken here is one of risk assessment as a means of determining the most appropriate level of rigour (and cost) that should be applied in a specific context
