  • Abstract
Actuator validation principles and techniques are applied to a pneumatic valve with significant nonlinear characteristics to illustrate performance enhancement. An outline of a self-validating actuator interface is presented. Valve nonlinearities are compensated using a complementary function and a conventional PI controller, which uses a cascaded configuration that benefits from validation report data to provide notable performance improvement. A practical demonstration of static and dynamic compensation schemes is given
