Abstract
This paper is a work-in-progress report of an investigation into the transport of still images over energy-limited, ad-hoc, sensor networks with the goal of maximizing the end-to-end throughput of image entropy (in the Shannon sense), while minimizing image distortion and the energy consumed by the network, over some mission duration. We report the progress made during the first year of this investigation. This report provides a first order, algebraic model for energy usage and entropy calculation, several entropy based routing options, with an approach to obtaining an optimal solution through simulation. In addition, the report discusses issues in image entropy measurement, distortion measurement, and image compression
