Abstract :
Recent advances in millimeter-wave (mmW) photonics are reviewed with emphasis on our research in connection with broadband radio-over-fiber system architectures, optical processing and generation of mmW signals, and electro-optical device design. Future system design challenges are also discussed. In particular, the concepts of substrate integrated circuits (SICs) are shown to have great potentials in the design of highly integrated mmW circuits as well as traveling-wave electro-optical devices, which are critical to the development of future mmW photonic systems and applications
