Abstract
Due to the modal conversion in spun fibers, spun fiber Bragg grating sensors have low polarization-dependent loss (PDL) at their main Bragg peaks of the reflection spectra; meanwhile the introduced linear birefringence can enable the spun-FBG-based sensors to have stronger resistance to external perturbations such as transverse pressure than the traditional single-mode FBG sensors
