Abstract :
Thin films with strong perpendicular anisotropy have been widely investigated for various technological applications (information technology, sensors, micro- or nanoelectromechanical systems...) in which out-of-plane fields are required. SmCo5 possesses the largest known uniaxial magne-tocrystalline anisotropy of Ku=14 MJ/m3 at room temperature as a bulk phase. The present work focuses in a new exchange bias (EB)-like phenomenon observed in orthogonally coupled SmCo5 (perpendicular)-CoFeB (in-plane) bilayers.
