Abstract
In order to overcome high pass loss and energy consumption problems in underwater acoustic sensor network (UWASN), on the basis of the GEAR routing protocol, a density control based on geographical and energy aware routing (D-GEAR) strategy is proposed. Before the source node forwards query messages, by using density control algorithm based on probability coverage model to adjust the area node-density. It can set a sleep timer for the redundant sensor nodes to reduce total network energy consumption and ensure adequate network coverage ability. Simulation results show that by setting a reasonable radius can effectively prolong the network lifetime.
