Abstract :
Combined TM images and urban planning images, the rational analysis is carried on from respects such as the growth intensity, center coordinates and other indexes in Xuzhou using GIS spatial analysis techniques and qualitative analysis. Then the authors made correlation coefficient matrix among urban spatial expansion and traffic pulsing and found out the changing laws among the factors. The results showed that in 1979-2008, the city expanded towards the east and the south and the city center moved towards southeast mainly attributed to the urban significant traffic constructions. The urban spatial morphology became more and more complex with the compact index decreased and the fractal index increased.
