Abstract :
It appears that the evolution of the IP technology is currently driven by Layer 3 solutions for QOS provision. We outline some complementary issues that should be investigated in parallel with the network level innovations. We focus on a more complete operational support system that would be capable of mapping user requirements onto network technologies, in addition to providing the necessary management support
