Abstract :
Where is technology going and how can it be managed to produce overall business benefit? With this question in mind, NGC have formulated technological strategies. These strategies take note of the way technology is likely to change and this is fed into the engineering planning process to ensure that technologies employed in the future will be introduced in a co-ordinated way to provide increasing benefits to NGC´s transmission business. The greatest pace of change is in the Substation Information, Control And Protection (SICAP) technologies. A strategy in this technological area has been produced in close collaboration with NGC´s operating units and its control, protection and monitoring equipment suppliers. The “SICAP Strategy” is discussed in this paper
