Abstract
A batch experiment was conducted to study the effect of pH and temperature on absorption and desorption of copper in soil, soil samples were collected from the vicinity of a copper tailings yard. The results showed that the pH value is one of the most important factors that influence the adsorption of copper. The Cu adsorption was reduced at the low pH. By increasing the pH value, the adsorption increased. As the pH arose, the Cu desorption was decreased. The temperature is another factor that may influence the Cu adsorption. The Cu adsorption increased with the elevation of temperature, while the tendency of Cu2+ desorption declined. Because of the temperature of 25°C is suitable for ions exchange, the desorption rate at 25°C appeared to be a bit higher in this study.
