Abstract :
Multicarrier modulation is a popular technique for ultra wideband signal design in high range resolution radars. Specially, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) radar signals, because of their prominent properties such as favourable ambiguity function and high spectral efficiency have been recently of interest of many researchers. The main purpose of this paper is to replace the conventional OFDM multi-carrier modulation with orthogonal wavelet division multiplexing (OWDM) in order to get a more flexible signal design approach for radar applications. The feasibility of this signalling as a radar pulse compression technique is studied, and some wavelet OFDM codes with favourable autocorrelation and ambiguity functions are introduced.
