Abstract
In microcell mobile communication systems, where the cell size is very small, the non-uniformity of traffic distribution becomes conspicuous, resulting in decrease in the system efficiency. In this paper, we propose a dynamic zone control scheme for CDMA mobile radio communications, which can improve the system efficiency based on adaptive control of the zone size, zone figure and transmission power according to the traffic distribution. Its performance is evaluated by computer simulations in comparison with the fixed zone configuration. As the result, it is clarified that the proposed dynamic zone control scheme brings marked improvement in the blocking probability and over 50% increase in the system capacity
