  • Abstract
    The design of a new instrument for automatic controlling the pressure in a medical cuff of catheter was introduced in this paper. This instrument contained several main parts including single chip microcomputer used in main control, pressure sensors, and the program controlling air pump etc. The pressure sensors transformed pressure signal in cuff to electrical signal, which was then transmitted to the single chip microcomputer. Pressure in cuff of catheter was regulated by the programmable switch which was controlled by the single chip microcomputer. This instrument had main function of real-time display and maintaining the pressure in cuff of catheter at setting range. The safety of clinical operation and accuracy of scientific research might be improved by this new design.
