  • Abstract
In this paper, we have analyzed an important parameter (i.e. channel availability check time) within detection part of a detect and avoid (DAA) based interference mitigation technique that using by UWB devices to protect WiMax system. Hence estimating this parameter, WiMax service and it properties and also the WiMedia medium access should be characterized. We have considered three typical WiMax services including VoIP, web surfing and broadcasting. The WiMedia superframe has been modeled by increasing and decreasing its listening period. The results show that for VoIP and Web surfing the channel availability check times are possible to keep within constraint with considering more than 90% of activity factor. On the other hand the listening period for the broadcasting service need to be increasing (activity factor need to be reduced) for getting reliable detection.
