Abstract :
Laser tweezers are useful tools for manipulation of sub-micrometer particles, but single DNA molecules cannot be manipulated. A novel manipulation method for a single DNA molecule has been developed. A sample solution was frozen and a DNA molecule was embedded in the solid phase of solution. Irradiating by a focused YAG laser, the local area of the frozen solution can be melted. The molten area can be moved and a single DNA molecule can be transported. Further, this technique is useful for regulating the chemical reaction in the local area. The enzymatic reaction of a DNA molecule in the local region was experimentally confirmed in this research
