Abstract :
An emerging interdisciplinary theory of information and communication systems is discussed that can lead to a much-needed interdisciplinary integration of information and communication science (ICS) theory, research, and practice. The factors leading to the need for an ICS conceptual-theoretical framework for sociotechnical systems design are identified. The frameworks´s relation to the assessment and delivery (movement and management) of information is elaborated. The axiomatic assumptions and the epistemological platform supporting and guiding the framework are derived
