Abstract :
We study the dynamics of a fourth-order autonomous nonlinear electric circuit with two active elements, one linear negative conductance and one nonlinear resistor with a symmetrical piecewise linear V-I characteristic. Using the capacitances C1 and C 2 as the control parameters, we observe antimonotonicity, a reverse period-doubling sequence, as well as a crisis-induced intermittency, when the spiral attractor suddenly widens to a double-scroll attractor. The control of chaotic behavior using an external sinusoidal signal reveals, that there is an optimum (minimum) value of the amplitude, which leads the circuit to a period-1 steady state
