Abstract
As a nonlinear system, the Chaos theory is an evolution theory that can be transferred from ordered state into a disordered state suddenly, aiming to reveal the intrinsic links behind surface phenomenon. It provides a creative method to study natural science, politics, economy, culture, art and design. This paper introduces the Chaos theory briefly and clarifying in three parts - sensitive dependence on initial conditions, fractals and chaos strange attractors to explain the significance in graphic design. Author analyzes comprehensively the concept, characteristics, design elements and creative thinking method of chaos images completely. The purpose of this paper is to expand the scope of image design, enrich forms of graphic design, and give us a new method of art design.
