Abstract :
Describes a generic approach to quality propagation which does not depend on specific function blocks and can be easily customized to the specific application. Every signal in the DCS will include quality as an integral part, and the quality will travel with the signal. Quality is defined as a set of bits which allows quality from several inputs to be merged without losing information. User definable bits are provided to support application specific quality propagation
