Abstract :
The occurrence of sudden water pollution accident threatens water quality as well as human health and social stabilization. A typical water pollution accident emergency warning system for Chu River downstream basin was developed to aid responsible authorities, water suppliers and emergency responders making impactful rescue measures at the first time in order to reduce influence and loss of the accident effectively. Consisted of the fundamental database, the GIS platform, and the surface water quality model WASP, the system realized the capability with near real-time simulation at temporal and spatial level following accident, toward the release for most of hazardous substance. The functionality of the system was illustrated through a scenario simulation where nitrobenzene assumed to be released accidentally from an enterprise in the Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park.
