Abstract :
An analog front-end CMOS chip for echo-cancelling full-duplex digital transceivers working on twisted pairs has been fabricated. The chip incorporates transmit, receive, balance, and equalizer filters, and a 12-bit 6-μs self-calibrating A/D (analog-to-digital) converter. The chip interfaces to a digital signal processor in charge of the rest of the transceiver functions, such as echo cancellation, adaptive equalization, timing recovery, etc
