Abstract
The evolution of fiber-optic communication systems, especially fiber-optic access systems and the expectation of optoelectronic devices are considered. Indium phosphide devices are expected to play an important role in the development of fiber-optic systems leading toward FTTH (Fiber To The Home) to realize the new century network construction and to prepare new network services such as multimedia communication
