Abstract
A new near-to-far-field transformation for the FDTD method is presented. In this method near-field data calculated by FDTD and exact solutions are combined on a virtual boundary which encloses the scatterer. The far-field data using the proposed method are more precise than the results using the surface equivalence theorem. This method is applied to the problem of the scattering pattern by a conducting cylinder
