  • Abstract
Adsorption test for phenol-containing wastewater from a coking plant was carried out using Specially-made activated carbon. The reaction mechanism and influencing factors, such as the dosage of Specially-made activated carbon, pH, temperature and time on decomposition of phenol for the treatment of phenol-containing wastewater by Specially-made activated carbon were mainly studied. The proper conditions of treatment of phenols-containing wastewater by Specially-made activated carbon were confirmed. The results show that when the phenol-containing wastewater from a coking plant is absorbed by Specially-made activated carbon with dosage of about 20g, with 6.0~7.0 pH value, at room temperature, the removing efficiency of phenols, COD, SS and color is above 95% respectively, and the treated water sample can reach Urban sewage treatment plant pollutant emission standards.
