  • Abstract
This study aims to use different kinds of capping ligands (oleic acid, oleylamine, 1,2-tetradecanediol, decanoic acid, and lauric acid) for synthesis by thermal decomposition and to adjust the morphology of magnetite nanoparticles into non-spherical shape. The nanoparticle products are characterized using TEM, EDX, electron diffraction, SEM, and VSM. The synthesized nanoparticles show typical superparamagnetic behavior with a saturation magnetization value of 54 emu/g. A comparative cytotoxicity study is performed on human hepatoma cell lines and immortalized normal human liver cell lines to investigate biocompatibility of nanoparticles for hyperthermia application.
