  • Abstract
    Demand for five-axis machine tools has grown rapidly with the appearance of high-performance machines and growing requirements for high-speed and high-precision CNC machining. A five-axis controller with tool center point control function is developed in the powerful five-axis CNC system. The controller fits in with any five-axis machine tool configuration by combining the generalized kinematics model of five-axis machine tools. An algorithm of tool center point control performs the interpolated position data for linear-motion and rotational-motion on the trajectory using the commanded velocity, then corrects the non-linear error in every interpolation cycle so that the tool center point is moved along the commanded path at the commanded velocity. Finally, the performance of the proposed controller is demonstrated by the practical example.
