Abstract
A method for designing an electromagnetically coupled microstrip slot antenna is investigated. The method is based on an equivalent circuit approach, in which the slot part of the antenna is analysed by the FDTD method and the stub part is regarded as a transmission line. The antennas are designed in the 2-10 GHz range by this method. The reflection coefficients are measured using a network analyser with its Through-Reflect-Line (TRL) calibration. As a result, it is pointed out that this method is applicable under the condition that the length of the stub is longer than the width of the microstrip. It is also shown that offset feeding is effective in reducing the restriction of the stub length
