Abstract
Power control is an effective approach to reduce interference and increase system capacity in code division multiple access (CDMA) mobile communication systems. At the same time, power control can make different services achieve different quality of service (QoS) requirements in WCDMA communication systems. However, perfect power control is hard to realize in fading environment. In this paper, the effect of step-size in power control for WCDMA mobile systems at fading channel is simulated. It is show that there exists optimum step-sizes for different wireless fading channel condition in WCDMA. The effect of power control on the capacity for WCDMA communication system is also analyzed and the numeric results are given. The results are available for the design on WCDMA communication systems
