Abstract :
The Australian over-the-horizon radar network is undergoing a series of evolutionary enhancements primarily based on software and general purpose computing upgrades. This upgrade process is particularly unique in the degree of performance improvement being made available to the radars after they are operational, and continues a long history of Australian investment in incremental improvements to in-service over-the-horizon radars. This paper outlines the areas of enhancements, summarises the effects of the enhancements on the maintenance and support aspects of the radar network, and outlines the project management approaches used to execute the upgrades.
