Abstract
This paper proposes two new circuit techniques to help improve the speed of MCML gates. One technique consists of adding a high-pass element to the active shunt-peaked buffer. This added device, when used to implement ring-oscillators, helps improve the frequency by about 20%. The second technique is to bias the active inductor according to the output voltage. With this technique, the smallest improvement was found to be 10% whereas the highest improvement was 36%. These techniques offer a way of enhancing the performance of MCML gates for high speed designs
